Erion Family Foundation

Our Founders

The Erion Family Foundation, established in 1986 by Helen and Ken Erion, has been a cornerstone of support for the Loveland community, embodying the values of dedication, advocacy, and community participation.

Rooted in a history of entrepreneurial endeavors, the foundation traces its origins back to 1932 when the Erions embarked on a directory-publishing business. This venture blossomed into the Johnson Publishing Company, a family of companies headquartered in Loveland, Colorado, with regional offices spanning forty-seven states. Helen and Ken Erion, committed to the ethos of service, dedicated themselves to both their business and their community.

Helen Erion, a driving force behind the foundation’s inception, demonstrated her commitment to community service through her involvement in founding and operating key organizations such as the Loveland House of Neighborly Service and Loveland’s Meals on Wheels. Her passion for supporting those in need was evident in her tireless efforts to ensure ongoing assistance and care for the less fortunate in Loveland.

Ken Erion, after completing his education at Marquette University, carried forward a strong belief in the entrepreneurial spirit inherent in American business. This belief not only fueled the growth of the Johnson Publishing Company but also laid the foundation for the Erion Family Foundation’s mission of supporting and uplifting the Northern Colorado community.

Featured Project

The Children’s Museum of Northern Colorado Project was launched in 2015. The project began as a belief among a group of community members that Northern Colorado was ready to sustain it’s own children’s museum. The original idea was very small in scale, but with community input and continued learning, the vision for a regionally serving children’s museum emerged.
